Executive Coaching
Leadership is a skill — but most leaders don’t have an accurate picture of how they’re actually showing up. I work one-on-one to identify what’s driving your results, what’s getting in the way, and what practical change looks like. No generic frameworks. Just honest work, grounded in evidence.
Assessment & Selection
The wrong hire — or the wrong promotion — costs more than the search fee. I use Hogan Assessment-based evaluation to help organizations make smarter decisions about leadership fit, team dynamics, and selection. Real data, interpreted by a board-certified psychologist.
Organizational Consulting
When an organization is underperforming, it’s rarely one person’s fault. It’s usually unclear roles, poor communication, and systems working against each other. I work with leadership teams to find what’s actually broken and build solutions that hold up after I’m gone.
Five Stages, One Clear Path
Consultation
Before anything else, I listen. I want to understand the situation in your words — what’s happening, what you’ve tried, what success would actually look like, and where the constraints are. I nail down scope and confidentiality up front, because that matters.
Assessment
Once I know what I’m working with, I gather data worth trusting. That might mean structured interviews, Hogan-based assessment, 360 feedback, direct observation, or some combination. Every instrument is administered and interpreted by a board-certified psychologist — not an algorithm.
Analysis
Data without interpretation is just numbers. This is where I look across everything — interview content, assessment scores, behavioral patterns — to find what’s actually driving the problem, not just what’s showing on the surface.
Results & Recommendations
I don’t hand off a report and walk away. I sit down and go through the findings with you — what the data says, what it means in context, and what I’d actually recommend doing. Clear language, no jargon. You’ll know exactly what I found and why it matters.
Implementation & Follow-Up
Insight without follow-through doesn’t stick. Once I have a plan, I stay involved — working through the first steps, checking in as things develop, and adjusting when the real world doesn’t cooperate with the original plan. Which it often doesn’t.
Built in the field.
Applied to your organization.
Compass Psychology grew out of nearly 17 years in the U.S. Army — spent where clinical psychology, leadership, and national security converge. Where getting it wrong about a person has consequences that follow.
“Each role was a different lens on what makes leaders succeed — or break down under pressure.”
From selecting future Army Commanders to embedding with joint operational units here and abroad, my career ran through environments where sound judgment about people, fit, and function wasn’t abstract — it mattered.
In uniform, I embedded with operational units in austere and combat environments, managed Army-wide officer assignments and career development, served as Chief of Behavioral Health in hospital settings, and led human factors teams in high-risk training environments. Those aren’t just titles — they’re different laboratories for understanding how organizations and the people in them actually work under pressure.
What those roles made clear: the organizations that thrive share one thing — their leaders look up at the mission and down at the people executing it in equal measure.
When those two perspectives stay aligned, leadership sharpens, systems run cleaner, and culture follows.
That’s the bearing Compass Psychology is built to help you find.
